Rae Pung Piano Academy LLP

Our
Story

The Rae Pung Piano Academy was founded by Rae Pung and Christine Gan. Together, they have won over 30+ piano competitions, and have sent students to win countless more. Their students have included Ethan Olaes, a Kawai Young Artist, as well as seasoned performers who have performed in Carnegie Hall, Esplanade Recital Hall, the Mozarteum Concert Hall, Musikverein Hall, the opening ceremony for the Miss America Pageant, and more.

The Piano Academy have organized several activities for young pianists to perform and grow their love for music. They co-organized the 2025 Ars Nova International Music Competition and are also preparing for a concerto festival in France, along with the 2026 Virtù d'Arte International Piano Competition & Festival.

Christine Gan began her career as the inaugural Music Coordinator at the founding of Taylors College Sydney, a direct partner of the University of Sydney. As a leading member, she oversaw and structured the Music Department of the University's Foundation Program. After moving to Singapore, she taught Music Electives at the Raffles Institution, and has been teaching for over three decades. Gan continues to promote accessibility in music by facilitating opportunities for her students to perform on stages around the world.

Rae Pung taught Applied Piano for three years at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, first working as a Secondary Lessons Instructor of Piano before working directly with the Head of Piano Pedagogy to teach APST-111 Piano Class, a core module. While teaching piano at Oberlin, Rae prepared students for exams, having influence over the curriculum. She led classes in both individual and group settings, including practicums. Pung also taught for two years at The ETHAN Project, a non-profit that utilizes music education to raise awareness on autism.
